Well just for starters...
Ha HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA ok add about 50 more of those
Angela and I were talking about how we have not had any sister pictures of all 4 of us in like 2 years...Tragic I know. Especially when we really are all such stunning creatures!
So I wake up this morning, check my e-mail and what do I find in my inbox? None other than this little beauty... All 4 of us circa 1995?
When I first beheld this Jem my eyes instantly welled up with tears
Let me share with you why
1- All 3 of my sisters (Ang, Soph...so cute)
2-It made me remember Dave and Dianne's old house (lot's of memories)
now for the goods
3-The glasses...for the love...why the glasses. Ramsey my dear little husband likes to say that Grayden got a discount on extra large frames and that's why all of us kids had x-large glasses and I've always told him that they were cool at the time. But I have no more fight in me. In style or not we were hideous.
4-then I was reminded of my oh so not cute years called Puberty. For some reason these years took particular vengence with me. I was a cute little kid with soft golden hair, people thought that Emily and I were twins. Then Puberty hit and with it my blond locks turned a dishwater light brown and THE CURLS!!!! oh the curls...what is a poor 12 year old girl suppose to do when her hair suddenly decides to turn naturally curly and frizzzzes out?? Well the result is years of pony tails mixed with failed attempts with a diffuser combined with several different straightening techniques, each one crazier than the last.
Blow dryer round brush combo=frizz
blow dryer velcro rollers combo=frizz
blow dryer big fat curling iron/laying flat on my back for a while trying to cut out frizz sometimes worked but usually resulted in...you guessed it Frizz
Jade and I even became pro's at ironing our hair (yah with a real iron) but we couldn't keep that up cause our hair was breaking off.
So needless to say I discovered my love for a pony tail at a young age. I'm not proud of this or anything but I swear I would have committed any number of horrific crimes at a young age if I could have only gotten my hands on a flat iron. Young girls now a days don't have to go through this pain.
5-Then this picture reminded me that while my big sis shared in the fate of the big glasses with me, her hair stayed blond and straight. It took me alot of years to get over this. Why, why did her hair not go frizztastic??? Now that I've come to term with my curls, even started to like them I am glad that she got the straight hair...but try telling me that when I was 12.
6-The "COO-LOTS" do you remember that that is what those pants were called? Maybe it was a Canadian thing, anyway those pants hahahahhahhah. I do recall that I got that outfit for Christmas and I loved it. For those of you that are not familiar with coolots well let me just take a minute and explain. Just take a grandmotherly skirt, preferably some sort of floral. cut a slit up the middle and sew up each side separately creating two pant legs (for a tutorial click
here) And there you have it...quite possibly the most hayness pair of pants known to man. And do you like how I have my young womans medallion places nicely outside of my sweater? Yah it was on purpose.
7-Maybe it's because of the pants but don't I kind of look like the grandma positioned nicely on the easy chair while all the children are gathered around me???
8- Is that a doiley not only on the back of the chair but also hanging in the background???
That would be a tally of 1 picture 2 doiley's...that's just not ok.
So I'm pretty proud that I am willing to sacrifice myself to get a laugh...yah I'm cool like that. Anyone who has known me my whole life might remember these lovely years called puberty, but if you have only known me as an adult you might be surprised to see my younger years. You may have thought that I have always been master of my own frizz. Well here's the truth, we all go through a homely stage (some more that others) But then some get contacts, a little bronzer, highlights and some hair products. They ditch the coolots and presto they become a normal person. What am I saying...that beauty doesn't come from within? that everyone needs a little cosmetic intervention???
Nooooooo...well Maybe
