Fine Lily I will stop treating you like my own personal human paper doll

I will only dress you up and make you get your picture taken when you look really extra specially CUTE...

Unfortunately for you (lucky for me) that is most of the time!

Sorry kid, it's just too much fun!

Feed me

This has to be my favorite picture, don't ask me why...maybe it's Lily's crooked pig tails?

Today Luke went to pre-school, he loves it. When I picked him up I opened his back pack and examined his non-eaten lunch (as I always do) I tell you that kid is just like his Dad, he just doesn't care all that much about food. Lily and I on the other hand...we love food, maybe a little too much, but anyway. I gave Lily his un-eaten sandwich for her lunch and drove home.
When we pulled in to the driveway luke decided that he wanted to push the button to open the garage door and he also wanted to help me drive the car (you let the kid do something once and suddenly they want to be an under age driver everyday) I said no and I did the honors myself, I pull in shut the door and then the drama begins.
Luke is screaming
"No Mommy don't touch me, nooooo STOP IT I want to push the button" as I am trying to unbuckle him. Then Lily is screaming crying
"No Mommy not time for a sleepie I want to go to pre-school" (we go through this every week and every week I tell her that when she is 4 she can go...well that's just not good enough)
So Luke is screaming and Lily is bawling and I am wondering how things can change so rapidly in a mere 45 seconds.
Well then Lily decides that instead of being a problem she is going to be a mother
"uh oh Mom, Nuke's in big trouble huh Mom"
"Nuke we don't scream...tiiiime OUT"
"Nuke's in time out huh Mom."
me-"Lily don't worry about Luke"
Luke- "Stop it Mommmmmmmy"
(I can't win)

So I leave him in the van jumping up and down so fiercely that the van is rocking and I take Lily upstairs. Meanwhile she remembers that she is going to have a nap and the whining and begging resumes.
So I make her a little something to eat (the hand me down sandwich ended up on the floor of the van)
she is distracted cause like I said, the girl likes food.
Then Luke enters the picture again, this time he has the crazy look in his eyes and Lily's cute little red boot hits me in the back, then he leaves again
the next thing I see is his diego back pack flying past me, followed by a pair of socks. I turn around and look at him with all the furry I can muster and he screams on the top of his lungs and run's away.
This goes on for a few minutes (him screaming and me ignoring him)
I take Lily up and lay her down and come back to see Luke laying in the fetal position on the floor on the living room. I ask him if he wants an apple and he screams.
So I walk into the kitchen and cut up an apple and slyly put it on the floor of the living room, Kind of like you would with a dog or a cat (or a rabid animal that you don't want to bite you).
So I laid the bait and waited to see if the little demon would take it. When he thought I wasn't looking he slyly went over and started nibbling on the apple. I kid you not one minute later he comes up to me and says
"sorry mommy, come sit with me" And then we had a nice little 4 year old snuggle on the couch.

Moral of the story... Make sure your children are fed before you decide whether or not you are going to lock them in the cellar and throw away the key! It may be the hunger monster throwing shoes at you and not your oh so sweet (haha) 4 year old son

Redemption

I showed Ramsey this oldie and asked him if was better than the last one, he just smiled.

And if your wondering, my mom got a thing that converts all of our old slides into digital, so she keeps sending me blasts from the past.

Thanks Mom I love this one, I've never even seen it before.
I Love You, now how about a visit??

ps. And Mom, if you happen to come across any pictures of my haircut in grade 9...just go ahead and delete them, THANKS...the wounds are still to fresh

pps. I seriously died laughing at all the comments people left me concerning my ugly duckling-ness. I now challenge someone to beat that picture with one of their own...come on people be brave!!!

And yes everyone in my family at one point had the gigantor glasses, in case you were wondering

Bravery

Is this not the sweetest thing?
Yah I get to be their mom, I get to spend my days with their sweet smiling faces?

Are you jealous?
Cause I also get to wake up to this.

The other day I fell asleep on the couch for literally 5 minutes or less and I know it wasn't longer cause a movie was on that I know by heart and I knew the part I fell asleep in...Anyway. I wake up and hear Luke and Lily talking so I look up and they are both covered in Marker. Really not a big deal I mean come on their washable and what kid doesn't do that sort or thing? So I jump up pick up Lily and take her straight up to the bath.

I'm sitting on the edge of the tub when I look down and see this...

They colored me!

I mean honestly what little kid thinks "Ha ha Mom's asleep let's color her foot she'll never know"

Shouldn't there be some sort of fear of Mom automatically installed in kids. Cause my kids didn't get any of it. It's like Lord of the Flies around here and I fear that I'm not the leader of the "Tribe"

Well I guess I can look on the bright side, at least they didn't cut my hair or something like that.

And though I guess I don't technically know which one of my little darlings it was... I'm thinking that it screams of Lily...

The girls got Guts!

Don't even try to tell me that you didn't go through puberty?

Well just for starters...
Ha HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
ok add about 50 more of those

Angela and I were talking about how we have not had any sister pictures of all 4 of us in like 2 years...Tragic I know. Especially when we really are all such stunning creatures!

So I wake up this morning, check my e-mail and what do I find in my inbox? None other than this little beauty... All 4 of us circa 1995?

When I first beheld this Jem my eyes instantly welled up with tears
Let me share with you why

1- All 3 of my sisters (Ang, Soph...so cute)

2-It made me remember Dave and Dianne's old house (lot's of memories)

now for the goods

3-The glasses...for the love...why the glasses. Ramsey my dear little husband likes to say that Grayden got a discount on extra large frames and that's why all of us kids had x-large glasses and I've always told him that they were cool at the time. But I have no more fight in me. In style or not we were hideous.

4-then I was reminded of my oh so not cute years called Puberty. For some reason these years took particular vengence with me. I was a cute little kid with soft golden hair, people thought that Emily and I were twins. Then Puberty hit and with it my blond locks turned a dishwater light brown and THE CURLS!!!! oh the curls...what is a poor 12 year old girl suppose to do when her hair suddenly decides to turn naturally curly and frizzzzes out?? Well the result is years of pony tails mixed with failed attempts with a diffuser combined with several different straightening techniques, each one crazier than the last.
Blow dryer round brush combo=frizz
blow dryer velcro rollers combo=frizz
blow dryer big fat curling iron/laying flat on my back for a while trying to cut out frizz sometimes worked but usually resulted in...you guessed it Frizz
Jade and I even became pro's at ironing our hair (yah with a real iron) but we couldn't keep that up cause our hair was breaking off.
So needless to say I discovered my love for a pony tail at a young age. I'm not proud of this or anything but I swear I would have committed any number of horrific crimes at a young age if I could have only gotten my hands on a flat iron. Young girls now a days don't have to go through this pain.

5-Then this picture reminded me that while my big sis shared in the fate of the big glasses with me, her hair stayed blond and straight. It took me alot of years to get over this. Why, why did her hair not go frizztastic??? Now that I've come to term with my curls, even started to like them I am glad that she got the straight hair...but try telling me that when I was 12.

6-The "COO-LOTS" do you remember that that is what those pants were called? Maybe it was a Canadian thing, anyway those pants hahahahhahhah. I do recall that I got that outfit for Christmas and I loved it. For those of you that are not familiar with coolots well let me just take a minute and explain. Just take a grandmotherly skirt, preferably some sort of floral. cut a slit up the middle and sew up each side separately creating two pant legs (for a tutorial click here) And there you have it...quite possibly the most hayness pair of pants known to man. And do you like how I have my young womans medallion places nicely outside of my sweater? Yah it was on purpose.

7-Maybe it's because of the pants but don't I kind of look like the grandma positioned nicely on the easy chair while all the children are gathered around me???

8- Is that a doiley not only on the back of the chair but also hanging in the background???
That would be a tally of 1 picture 2 doiley's...that's just not ok.

So I'm pretty proud that I am willing to sacrifice myself to get a laugh...yah I'm cool like that. Anyone who has known me my whole life might remember these lovely years called puberty, but if you have only known me as an adult you might be surprised to see my younger years. You may have thought that I have always been master of my own frizz. Well here's the truth, we all go through a homely stage (some more that others) But then some get contacts, a little bronzer, highlights and some hair products. They ditch the coolots and presto they become a normal person. What am I saying...that beauty doesn't come from within? that everyone needs a little cosmetic intervention???
Nooooooo...well Maybe

Rumor has it...

That this little Lady is 2

As you can tell she is very excited about it!

Right now Lily

- Will only answer you if you call her "Baby" she says no I'n not a little girl mommy I'n a baby. The other night in her prayers I said "bless Lily that she can be a good girl" she cut me off and said "no mommy a baby"

-The only thing she wanted for her birthday was a pink cake and a pink sucker

- She is absolutely a little mini Angela (my little sis) Ramsey has always said it is so true. Aka a bit of a spaz mataz!

- She never stops yamering, she talks to herself she talks to you she talks on the phone.

-Anything and everything is a cell phone. The other day she was carrying around a little picture of Jesus and she held it up to her ear and said "oh hi Jesus...oh your so funny"

- She loves Anything Princess anything baby and anything pink. She also makes me anything I want to eat in her little kitchen.

- I hate to say it but she thinks any sort of "potty" humor is hilarious. Bum is her favorite word, and if you want to get her howling just say poop. Also any sort of "sound" and she'll crack up saying " hahahah Stinker Buuuum"

-She is soo stinkin fun and most days I just can't get enough of her'

Happy Birthday Lily Girl

Christmas in Kentucky

I have not really blogged forever so I don't really know where to begin...How about a whack load of pictures that let's face it only Grandparents care to see. So here it is in all it's glory...

Christmas 2009
Christmas Sunday. I do believe that I am borderline obsessed with Lily's Christmas dress and matching coat. Thanks to my mom who spoiled us during her trip here in October.

All bundled up for a "winter walk" that's what my kids call it when Ramsey takes them out for a walk in the cold. He bundles them all up in the double stroller and they look like they are in a bob sled.
Making sugar cookies, or in Lily's case just eating frosting.

Luke was all about sitting on Santa's lap he thought it was great, Lily on the other hand. Well this is as close as she got, she liked Mrs. Clause. She would tell me all the time "Santa's not mean Mommy, he's so nice" she still didn't want to sit with him.

Luke loved decorating the tree. We very much had a kid tree, but I don't care, that's the way I like it.
Luke was a pretty stinkin cute little drummer boy in his pre-school Christmas program.

And he was ever so proud of his Gingerbread house (ok whatever it was graham crackers, guess what the kids don't care) Again Lily just went to town with the candy. That's my girl!

Christmas Morning waiting on the stairs to come down and see if Santa came. In my house growing up we had to wait to hear the music from a train before we could come down stairs. At our house the kids have to wait until they hear Paul McCartney`s `Simply having a wonderful Christmas time` hahah they love it

I just had to put it up again, it`s the best picture ever and it pretty much sum`s up my kids. Luke trying to have control (stay here for the picture Lily) and Lily having a spaz attack. Yup that just about sum`s them up.

Christmas Morning cooking. And she has not stopped, she loves her neew little kitchen.

A very happy boy who finally got his own Woody and Buzz.

Ramsey said that every little boy needs a tub full of army men, so Luke got them, loved them, and Ramsey got to spend hours Christmas day setting them all up, knocking them all down and then starting all over again.

We missed being home with family, we missed all the crazy cousins and the late night card games. I even missed all the Canadian Snow. But all that aside I am grateful that we could have a fun little Christmas at home.
And there it is...Christmas at the Edwards!

ps. Thanks for the new computer Russ and Rhonda. I will keep the pics of the grandkiddies coming!

Hoping you all had a lovely little Christmas. We did!
Kids are happy (note the picture above) we are healthy, and we can't wait to see what 2010 has in store for us.
